Sesame Care review

$59 a month buys the care, not the drug — and only if you commit to 12 months. Sesame's Success by Sesame program and the medication it prescribes are two separate charges at every tier, and understanding that split is the whole job before you compare this against a provider that quotes one all-in number. Sesame footnotes the $59 itself: "Based on a 12-month Success by Sesame commitment." What the fee covers is video visits, ongoing provider care, labs and messaging.

The care fee has four rungs, and the shortest one bills on a 28-day cycle rather than a calendar month. Month to month is $99 charged every 28 days, which is 13 charges in a year, close to $1,287. Prepaying pulls the rate down: Sesame puts the 3-month plan $60 ahead of monthly, the 6-month plan $180 ahead, and the annual plan $480 ahead, which works out to about $237 for a quarter ($79 a month), $414 for six months ($69 a month), and $708 in one charge for the year ($59 a month). Those totals are arithmetic on Sesame's own published figures, not numbers it prints as totals.

The drug then lands on top of all of it. Brand Wegovy in pill form — oral semaglutide 25 mg, approved by the FDA on December 22, 2025 — is $149 a month without insurance at the two lowest doses, 1.5 mg and 4 mg, and $299 a month at 9 mg and 25 mg. The split matters: the 25 mg strength that gives the product its name sits in the $299 tier, so $149 is an entry rung rather than a maintenance price. The Wegovy pen is quoted separately at $199 a month for the first two months for new Wegovy patients, then $349 after that.

Zepbound is priced by dose and by format, and nothing about it is flat. Vials run $299 a month at 2.5 mg, $399 at 5 mg, and $449 from 7.5 mg through 15 mg. KwikPens run $299 at 2.5 mg, $399 at 5 mg, $499 at 7.5 mg, and $699 at 10 mg, 12.5 mg and 15 mg. Climbing to a full pen dose more than doubles the drug bill, and the care fee is still on top: at a 15 mg KwikPen on the annual care plan, the monthly outlay is $758.

Brand access is the reason to be here at all. Alongside the Wegovy pill and pen and Zepbound, the catalog covers Ozempic, Mounjaro and Rybelsus — FDA-approved products rather than compounded copies, which is not something most cash-pay GLP-1 providers can offer. Because Sesame is a marketplace rather than a single practice, the program page says outright that "providers on Sesame set their own prices, which means that some providers may offer the service at a higher price." Read $59 and $99 as the program's floor, not as a rate every listed provider charges. The same page is equally direct that "the subscription fee does not include the cost of medication," which is the sentence most price comparisons quietly drop.

It suits someone who specifically wants an FDA-approved brand with a named price attached before booking, and who is willing to add two numbers together to reach a total. It suits far less someone who wants one figure and no arithmetic, or who wants the close weekly hand-holding a dedicated weight-loss program provides — a general medical marketplace is a lighter touch by design. And anyone heading for a full Zepbound dose should price the year honestly first, because at that end of the range the care fee is the small half of the bill.
